FYJC Mumbai 11th Standard Online Admission Info | Online application for FYJC

The state education department unveiled the final version of its eagerly awaited online admission system to junior colleges. This year, all students in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region applying to a junior college in the general (open merit) category, will have to do so online. Admissions to the 50% minority quota at minority institutions, and the 5% management quota, will not be online, and will be left to colleges to conduct.

The admission site, http://fyjc.org.in/mumbai will be operational from June 10. Students will be able to practise filling out their application forms,before the SSC results are out.

Once the results are out, a student can fill out and lock the form, print it out, and manually submit it a designated submission center.

Students can apply to a maximum of 150 colleges and as many as two streams. ICSE and CBSE students will have to download the form and fill it manually. In the science and the commerce streams, students can apply to both the regular science course as well as the vocational science course.

Students will receive an e-mail and sms informing them of the college they have made it to once the merit list is out.

Over 1,000 centres, including schools, colleges and special MKCL centres will be set so students can access a computer and fill out their forms.

The fate of 70,000 odd aspirants who appeared in the Combined Pre Medical Test
(CPMT) 2009 will be declared on June 20. However, only about 2.5% of the total lucky ones will be able to get admission in medical, dental, homeopathy and ayurvedic colleges.

Meanwhile, hectic preparations are underway at the Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University -- which conducted the CPMT 2009 -- to announce the results on time.

Vice-chancellor, CSMMU, Prof Saroj Chooramani Gopal said the task is a mammoth one. Examining some 70,000 copies is painstaking even though it is to be done with the help of computers. The next hurdle is preparing the merit list.

Prof Singh said that the results will be declared on the website www.kgmcindia.edu/cpmt.htm. Candidates can log on to the website. Thereafter, they will have to select the results portal. After the page opens, they may enter their roll numbers into a column and press the enter key. In few seconds, the rank and the marks obtained by the students will be displayed on the computer screen. Students can also take a hard copy of their marksheet.

The counselling part, however, will be managed by directorate of medical education. Giving details of counselling, officer on special duty, medical education directorate, Dr KC Rastogi, said, though the counselling schedule is yet to be finalised, seats will be allotted to students through online counselling like previous years. For this on-campus online centres will be set up in various districts where students can register themselves.

Officials added that students will be asked to fill the personal details and preferences in the form on the computer installed at the centre. All the centres will be linked to a master computer at NIC Centre, Lucknow, through an exclusive intra-networking line. After students from all the seven centres have filled their forms, the computer will be blocked for processing of the data. Thereafter, the computer will display a list showing the seats assigned to the students.

Dr Rastogi said that the candidates will have to attend the counselling schedules in person and no representatives will be allowed as the state government had abolished the system of accepting authority letters.

It seems that SRK is no more finding the sports business profitable. SRK is in talk with Nokia, Sahara, Anil Ambani Group and others to sell his team.
One thing remarkable for him was that in IPL secession 1 his team was the only team to make a profit, though he made a minor profit of 13 crores.

What is making SRK sell this team ?
It seems the operating cost is hurting him the most. Secondly the under performance of the team.
In IPL - 2 the team has not done so well.
SRK had to pay 300 cr. to buy this team last year. Since then he has to pay 30 cr. every year till next ten years. The annual cost of the team is 75 Crores.

The awaited online version of CAT is now live. CAT 2009 November is suppose to be online.
Its projected that 300,000 students who will appear for CAT 2009 will appear it online. Last year the number of students who gave CAT were 250,000. This year the numbers have increased by 50,000.
On an average the numbers are increasing 40,000 every year.

“The online CAT ensures that we can reach out in a much bigger way. The exam can be administered in many locations where the internet is available,” said IIM Calcutta dean (programme initiatives) Saibal Chattopadhyay. - Economic Times.

“It would be a bit time consuming to replicate figure-based problems on screen and solve them. In CAT, every second counts, and wasting time means you won’t be able to crack the exam,” Mr Sharma said. He added that the new online system may actually help tech-savvy students who are used to giving web-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exams. - Economic Times.

Now main concern remains that how will a student sole Math problems ? I think the pattern of the paper should be changed.
If the paper patern changes , what will happen of the students who have already started preparing paying thousands of rupees in coaching classes.

One thing which I found good was that the new computer-based test (CBT) will allow students to select a date convenient to them from a specified period of 10 days. CBT CAT will be a candidate-friendly test in terms of flexibility in the selection of test date, ease of registration process, better physical environment and test experience. - ET.

I think by this the number of students who will appear for CAT will increase.

No service tax on rented space: HC

Retailers, realtors and companies operating their businesses from rented space can now breathe easy. The Delhi High Court has ruled that commercial renting of premises will not attract service tax. It would also mean a major revenue loss to the government. It collects over Rs 8,000 crore annually from renting service. In 2009-10, it expects to collect Rs 68,900 crore through service tax levied at the rate of 10%.

The court held that renting of immovable property for use in the course or furtherance of business could not be regarded as a service, and, therefore, can’t be taxed. It gave this ruling while disposing of petitions by retailers such as Lifestyle, Shoppers Stop Home Solution and Barista Coffee. “The high court
order is a welcome one for the business and shall reduce the input costs in these tough times,” Ernst & Young associate director Bipin Sapra said.

The Centre will appeal against the ruling in the Supreme Court as the decision could have serious ramifications for service tax collections, an official in the government, who didn’t wish to be identified, said. “If the government appeals to the Supreme Court, there may be some time before the issue is resolved fully,” Mr Sapra said.

The Centre had brought “service provided in relation to renting of immovable property other than residential
properties and vacant land for use in the course or furtherance of business or commerce” under the tax net through the Finance Act, 2007. Subsequently, a detailed notification and a circular were issued on May 22, 2007, and January 4, 2008, referring to ‘renting as a taxable service’, a move contested by the petitioners.

They had taken the line that since the Act provided for levy of service tax on service provided in relation to renting of immovable property, it could not be construed as levy of tax on renting. The court upheld the view and ruled that the interpretation in the notification and the circular was not correct and ultra vires to the Act and set aside both of them.

Service tax is a tax on value addition provided by some service providers and renting of immovable property for use in the course or furtherance of business did not involve any value addition and could not be regarded as a service, the court observed. An alternate plea was also taken up by the petitioners that the levy of service tax on renting of immovable property would amount to tax on land and therefore, fall outside the legislative competence of Parliament as it is a state subject.

The court, however, did not examine the alternative plea. - ET

TATA Nano booking numbers.

TATA Motors have not yet come out with the official numbers of Tata Nano booking. But its wide spread that the numbers have crossed one million.
TATA Motors say that the official numbers will come in few days, they are in the process of counting the forms.

Even the banks which took Nano financing and booking didn't give the numbers.

The only source giving the number was carwala.com which accepted the booking of NANO online. Carwals has booked around 10,000 cars from around 500 cities.

Out of these 10K bookings 55% of the bookings have been done for the top version and 25% and 20% for middle version and the base model respectively.

I will update the exact number of bookings as soon as the company comes out with the list. Be a backed for it!

An unidentified man flung a shoe at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during an election rally in Ahmedabad on Sunday, but the it landed well short of the podium from where he was speaking. - ET
The prime minister stopped momentarily during his speech at Tagore Hall in Paldi locality as one of his Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel ran towards the spot where the shoe had landed. The shoe landed about 20 feet away.
The person has been taken for inquiry.

Expansion/ Increment of branches is one of the reason. This expansion of branches is the reason to increase the lending activity.

What can we term by this expansion activity?

Here is a simple difference between FD and FMP.

A common feature of both FMPs (Fixed Maturity Plans) and FDs (Fixed Deposits) is that investors know in advance how much return they will earn on maturity
The difference here is that while the returns on FDs are assured, returns on FMPs are indicative
FMPs are actually close-ended debt funds with fixed maturity offering an indicative yield. The keyword here is ‘indicative’
That means, on maturity there is a possibility of actual returns deviating from indicative returns
On the other hand, returns are guaranteed by an FD and investors are assured of receiving the same on maturity (assuming there is no default in payment of principal amount and interest)

Why do FMP yields vary?

FMP yields do not normally vary by a significant margin
For the same tenure, the yields on debt instruments (with comparable credit ratings) are usually in a range, which is why FMPs of similar tenure have comparable yields
The difference in yields between two FMPs arises out of the risk taken on in the portfolio – a FMP having top rated instruments in its portfolio would deliver comparatively less than a FMP with lower rated papers
Higher return means that the fund manager has been taking on more credit risk in the portfolio

An Advantage of FMP.
Fixed Maturity Plans (FMP) are alternate ways to keep your savings so as to get better post tax returns than fixed deposits (FDs). These are debt funds which do not invest in equities and hence free from volatility risk linked to stock markets. These are available for different terms ranging from 1 month to 5 years with periodic liquidity.

The answer to the question totally depends on you how much return you want? Where ever you get higher returns you would obviously invest you money there.

Booking a NANO can give you higher returns than FD.

If you book a Nano, and unfortunately not selected in the draw, do not despair as your booking amount will fetch you better returns than even a fixed deposit. With RBI's recent reverse repo and repo rate cuts, banks have started slashing deposit rates, with fixed deposits now fetching lesser interest rates as against what Tatas will pay on your booking amount.

Booking for the Nano which opened on April 9, will close on April 25. Tata Motors will only be able to allot only one lakh cars in the first phase, within two months of closure of bookings. But for those who are not successful in getting the car in the first phase, have the option to retain their deposit on which Tata will pay an interest of 8.5% for people who have to wait between one to two years to get their Nano, and 8.75% for over two years.

As against this, a fixed deposit with a PSU like United Bank of India will fetch you an interest of 8% for 36 months. SBI at present offers 7.75% on deposits (below one crore) for a period of one to less than two years, while a deposit for two years to less than 1000 days, fetches interest of 8%.

"This is a great offer. Even if a customer is not successful in getting selected in the draw the first time, he can retain his booking amount over six to eight months on which Tata will pay more than what he would have earned if he had invested in a FD," a bank official said. The booking amount is Rs 95,000 for the base variant , Rs 1.2 lakh for middle and Rs 1.4 lakh for the top-end airconditioned model.

So it would make sense to retain the deposit with the bank till the time the next allotment takes place, say banking experts, if you are serious about buying the car, while at the same time earning a higher return (8.5%) than a fixed deposit in a bank (7-8 % or even lower if revised downwards over the next few days).

The one-lakh car has met with an astounding response with most bookings coming for the top-end air-conditioned model, which carries a price tag of Rs 1.72 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The top variant in Mumbai is priced at Rs 1.85 lakh. Tata Motors has said that it would be able to produce only 50,000 units of Nano from its Pantnagar facility in Uttarakhand, until its dedicated plant at Sanand (Gujarat) starts production late this year. - ET

For an instance take it - Does any one knows when this recession is going to end ? No, no can say it accurately, one can just predict but as all know that the future is uncertain.
But what one can do is spot out some value stocks in this badly beaten markets and think of long term investment in them. But a question comes here that which company to invest in?
The answer to the above question is invest in the company in which you have faith and confidence and more over of which you are aware of.

Here are few easy steps to identify Multibagger stocks.

Go for a company which gives regular dividend. Dividend paying stocks mostly lie in A group category.
Preferably go for a Mid cap stock which in future can become a large cap. Mid cap stock have a greater chance to move upwards and that to fast. Preferable a stock whose market cap is less than 1000 Crores.
Go for a stock in a particular sector which is in boom.
Look out for the companies financial. In this check out the companies profit f last 4-5 years and check it out that it is increasing every year. One can also check out EPS of the company.
Check out whats running these days, Say for example there is a invention of a new technology which will be in demand in a near future. An excellent example is invention of 3G. Even TATA Nano can be taken in consideration as it is only one of its kind being the cheapest car in the world.
Check out for a companies order value. There are various companies which have a good amount of orders for future which are of great importance to a company.
One can also look out for a company which has good amount of land / property. Unitech had a lot of lad which can in the eyesight by end of 2005. An investment of Rs 40,000 then would be worth over 1 crore by the end of 2007.

TCS bonus issue 1:1

It seems TCS has not felt the pinch of recession as it is offering bonus issue during recession in a ratio of 1:1.
This is the second bonus issue by the company since it went public five years ago. It had announced a similar bonus in 2006.
Bearing the brunt of global slowdown, TCS battled price re-negotiations and drying up of new software development projects, but maintained operating profit margins by moving thousands of employees from expensive onsite locations to offshore sites, bringing down travel expenditure and other expenses. The company said more than 40-45% of its customers have been reporting decline in revenues and more than 50% were reporting decline in profits.
The company’s net profit grew 4.6% year- on-year to Rs 1,314 crore, while revenues grew 17.7% to Rs 7,171.8 crore in the fourth quarter of FY09. However, for the first time since it went public in 2004, TCS has recorded a quarter-on-quarter decline of 1.4% in revenue. via

In my view this is a good step by a Tata Group , providing relief to share holders during bad times. TATA group has always been ahead in a social cause.

It all started in November 2008 when Mr Advaniji started blogging.
Then an advertisement on TV. It was a counter ad by both Congress and BJP.

For every hour you sit to watch TV you will find both BJP and Congress ads at least once.

Congress purchased the rights for an ad jaI ho song from the Oscar winner "Slumdog millionaire" which goes as "jai no.............." no sooner BJP came out with an ad which goes as "Bhay ho......" which means frightened. It actually meant that when congress was the ruling party what India got was just tears.

How can one forget when Advaniji said that "he has not seen such a weak PM as Dr.Manmohan Shing

There were agitated people throwing chapels (shoe) on politicians. First one was thrown on Mr. Chidambaram and later was thrown on Cavern Jindal (MP from Kurukshetra) and Even on Advani.

Is there any thing which is unseen by us to be seen.

One thing notable is that politicians have now become tech savvy as some of them have followed Obama's foot steep of blogging and tweeting.

Top 500 US firms' profits plunge 85% in 2008

Fortune magazine reported that Top 500 US companies have witnessed 85% fall in profits in half decade.
This is one major proof that recession is still intact and no one knows when it will end ?
Earnings dropped 84.7 per cent from the previous year, from 645 billion dollars to 98.9 billion dollars, marking the largest one-year decline ever. - Fortune.

In Fortune's latest annual listing of the top 500 US companies, energy and oil firms held three of the top four positions, led by ExxonMobil which snagged top spot from retail giant Wal-Mart. The retailer dropped to number two.
Chevron came in third followed by ConocoPhilipps and General Electric.
Automaker General Motors was sixth, despite being on the verge of bankruptcy, followed by Ford in seventh place.
AIG suffered the biggest drop in the standings, falling from 13th to 245th place.

Reliance Communications, India's second-largest mobile operator 3 million wireless customers in March.
Reliance had 69.6 million subscribers at the end of February.
In Jan 2009 it added 5 million subscribers and was the first Indian telecom company to add the biggest number of subscribers in a month. This was mainly because of RCom starting its GSM operation.

Airtel now I think is concentrating on its IPTV business and DTH business.

Recession effect on Intel - Profits dips 55%.

Computer-chip giant Intel reported a 55-per cent drop in first-quarter income Tuesday but said that it believed sales had bottomed out and that business was returning to normal.

The projection was significant because Intel's chips power the vast majority of personal computers, and the company's performance is often seen as a reliable predictor of the health of the technology sector. Other top technology bellwethers including Microsoft and IBM are also due to report their earnings in the next two weeks.

Intels first-quarter profit was $647 million, compared to a profit of $1.44 billion a year ago. In the same period, revenue dropped 26 per cent to $7.14 billion from $9.67 billion a year ago.

Though such results would usually signal a devastating performance, they were positively rosy in comparison to the 90-per cent drop Intel had in its fourth-quarter net income - which was among the three worst performances by the company in the last 25 years.

Intel fared worst in the Asia-Pacific region, where revenue was down 51 per cent. Revenue dropped by 21 per cent in the Americas, 18 per cent in Europe and 10 per cent in Japan. (Source)

Not only did the top ten earners pay 17.7% more by way of taxes than in the previous year, but the industry has thrown up a new ‘Hero No 1’. Akshay Kumar, who paid a whopping Rs 31 crore to the I-T department.

The top ten Bollywood stars together paid Rs 107 crore as taxes while the same set had paid Rs 90.90 crore in 2007-08 when the economy was booming.

I don't know how but this is the fact.
I personally use Mozilla Firefox and I like it very much. I don't like IE that much.
Microsoft IE has faced many challenges over a period of time but has sill been able to maintain 72% market share.
Most estimates put Internet Explorer's market share at around 72 percent, which means that when a new version of the browser is released, a lot of people will likely be upgrading.
Internet Explorer 8 (IE 8), the long-awaited successor to IE 7, is about to turn a lot of heads, as Microsoft nears completion of a browser upgrade that does significantly more than tack on enhancements to existing features.
I think in mobile version (browser) Opera is the one maximum used.

Microsoft will be releasing its Microsoft 2010 in the later half of 2010 , this will be finalized on Wednesday.
Office 2010, previously known by the code name ``Office 14'', will include slimmed-down versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote that let people create and edit documents in a Web browser. Consumers will have access to a free, ad-supported version.
Microsoft plans to let hundreds of thousands of people test a technical preview of the new Office portfolio starting in the third quarter of 2009. (I want to access it !)

Nokia ready to take on BlackBerry and iPhone.

Nokia, the world’s largest handset maker, will launch an e-mail platform for its mid- and high-end handsets on Wednesday as it attempts to challenge the dominance of RIM’s BlackBerry and Apple’s iPhone, both known for their better e-mail services.

While Nokia is the market leader in handset sales in India by a long shot, the company so far did not have an answer to BlackBerry’s e-mail services widely used by corporates and other high-end users.

Nokia will first debut its new messaging and e-mail solution on its business-oriented E-series phone E75 in India, before extending it to other E-series and N-series handsets here. At present, all of Nokia’s high-end phones fall into two camps, the E series for enterprise and corporate use and the N series for entertainment such as video, photographs and music.

Currently, Nokia does not have an e-mail platform to allow its users to view e-mails from different accounts through a common client. Nokia users currently view their e-mail using its mail for exchange service, but the catch is that it supports only a single e-mail account at a time. It had also launched Nokia Messaging push e-mail service for its high-end handsets such as E71 and N95.

In a bid to address the needs of corporates, Nokia was earlier offering BlackBerry Connect platform on several of its earlier E-series handsets. But, the latest phones from Nokia, such as the E75, don’t offer BlackBerry Connect. On the other hand, BlackBerry’s strength is that it allows customers to read and reply to multiple e-mail accounts with a single client. In fact, many an expert holds that emotional maturity is the ultimate key to sustained profitable stock market investing. Overcoming bouts of panic and greed in down and up market phases is not an easy matter to master. Here are ten rules to help you do precisely that...

There is no such thing as a good stock

There are only good companies. When someone tells you 'this is a good stock' you need to look beyond the stock chart. Why is the company a good company? How will it grow its business? If you can't answer these questions, you don't know what you own.

Have a premise

When you buy a stock you must have a premise. A premise is a reason why that particular stock will go up. For best results, the premise will be one that explains why the company's line of business will increase, and why the marketplace will value that business at current or higher multiples. Without a premise, you don't own an investment, you just own a stock.

Think trends. Buy stocks

If you really want to invest in big growth stocks, you need to invest in secular trends. Secular trends are events unrelated to either the economy or individual company events. The advent of the PC, the birth of the Internet, and the desire for wireless phones, are all secular trends. The biggest investment winners are those companies which are ideally placed to reap the benefits of large secular changes.

Microsoft and Intel rode the transition to PCs as computing power became cheaper and cheaper. Nokia, Motorola, Qualcomm, and Ericsson all found them-selves unable to keep up with demand in the mid 1990s, when wireless phones finally reached the critical price points. If you want really big winners, find the trend, then find the stocks.

Know your risk tolerance

The biggest mistake most investors make is to buy positions with more risk than they can really tolerate. This is where most people got hurt in the Internet bubble burst. They had no idea they owned risky stocks. If you can always tolerate, both financially and emotionally, the complete loss of your entire position, you obviously will be okay. But most people aren't in that position. Figure out how much downside you can live with without having to sell. Figure this out before you buy the stock.

Don't average down to feel better

'Averaging down' is often a way to lose more. If you believe in the company, and the price goes down, you may want to invest more. But if you, like many others, purchase more simply to lower your 'break even' stock price, you are making a mistake. If you find yourself calculating new 'average price per share' points, you might be averaging down for the wrong reason.

Don't miss the train to shave a dime

If you are investing in a major trend through a stock, and have a multi-year investment horizon, what difference does a few cents per share make on your purchase? Many investors try to place buys with limit orders just below the ask, and wind up missing the purchase.

If you really want a stock, particularly a big position, place a limit order at the ask, or even slightly higher. You will at least get the order. This is especially important if you are trying to buy far more shares than the current ask size. If you are right about the trend, you will never miss the extra ten cents per share.

Don't buy hot and watch cold

Many investors buy a 'hot stock' and immediately look for big gains. When they don't happen, the stock falls away from the daily attention list. Pretty soon it starts to edge downward, and, emotionally, the investor stops watching it.

Pain avoidance is common to us all. But you can't let pain avoidance prevent you from watching your stock. If you do, you often take a look two months later and find the stock is far from hot, and you are now presented with a really painful decision.

A hold is as good as a buy

There is no such thing as a 'hold' decision. If you wouldn't buy the stock again today, assuming you had additional money, you should either sell, or admit that you are confused. Resolve the confusion. The hold condition often happens when you have owned a stock for years, are way ahead of your basis, and are basically happy.

But what is driving the stock today? What will make the price rise in the future? Why would you buy the stock today, assuming you didn't own it? If you don't know, you don't have a premise for this stock. See rule 2.

Don't be an inadvertent long-term holder

When your premise doesn't work out, or you no longer believe in the stock, you must sell, even if it means a loss. Holding on just to 'get my money back' is the single biggest reason for losing more money. Who owned all those stocks that lost 98 per cent of their value in 2000? A good percentage was owned by people who turned into long-term holders inadvertently, when they made the decision to just stick it out.

You will lose money

You won't be right every time. If you are going to be an investor, you need to become accustomed to losing money on some positions. This rule is the natural consequence of living up to rules 5, 7, and 9. Taking losses is often the only way you can save your capital from further losses. (Source)

RBI introduces new Rs 10 coin.

The coins which are currently in India are of 25 paise, 50 paise, 1,2 and 5 rupees. And now here is Rs 10 coin.
This coin is a Bi-metallic coin .
Outer circular part of coin is made up of Bronze, Centre circular part of the coin is made up of Ferrous steel.
One side of this coin is printed with National Emblem, Number 10, Year.
The diameter is 28mm. Weight is 8 gms. In this financial year RBI is planning to issue 2,50,00,000 coins worth of 25 Crores.
It is designed by National Institute of Design.

Satyam Computer Services is all set to get a new owner, as the board gets ready to open the final bids on Monday. This will help put the company back on track after the admission of the Rs 7,000 cr fraud by its own founder and chairman Ramalinga Raju.

Will home loan interest rates come down?
To counter the worsening liquidity situation of banking institutions, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) cut the key rates including cash reserve ratio (CRR), reverse repo rate and repo rate over the last few months. New borrowers can get as low as an eight percent rate with certain conditions and clauses. However, many banks are yet to pass on the benefits of reduced rates to their existing borrowers.

Hence, there is every possibility that your lender is contemplating reduction of the rate. The RBI plans to counter the economic slowdown and slump in growth by bringing down its key rates and hence making borrowing cheaper. Lower or negative inflation rate will prompt the RBI to lower the rates further. But how much and when will existing borrowers benefit depends on the lenders.

Striving to become a 'green airline', Air India today said it has made savings of over Rs 46 crore in six months till this February by implementing several measures to enhance fuel efficiency.
The airline, in what started as a cost-cutting measure, achieved this by implementing a comprehensive range of measures to make each flight as environment-friendly as possible, minimising fuel consumption and carbon emissions and reducing noise levels.

In a bid to reduce weight of the aircraft, the airline has controlled in intake of water and even the weight of the food trolleys and magazines inside the plane.

Carrying of contingency fuel has been reduced from five to three per cent, with the crew tasked to comply with this move, the official said.

China's forex reserves over 7 times that of India.

China's central bank said on Saturday that its foreign exchange reserves rose 16 percent year-on-year to $1.9537 trillion by the end of March. On the other hand, India's forex reserves stood at $255 billion.

China's reserves, already the world's largest, increased by $7.7 billion in the first quarter - $146.2 billion less than the same period last year, AP reported quoting the People's Bank of China's Web site. In case of India, inflows by foreign institutional investors (FIIs) and a weak dollar have pushed up forex reserves by $2.8 billion.

Easing credit growth has also resulted in a lower growth in money supply. This is because a dip in loans slows down the ‘multiplier effect’ , which occurs when money lent by a bank is spent and comes back to the banking system in the form of new deposits creating fresh money.

Analysts believe China holds up to 70 percent of its foreign reserves in US dollar-denominated assets, including Treasury securities.

According to figures released by the Reserve Bank of India foreign currency assets rose $3 billion, the value of gold in reserves dipped $169 million. The level of special drawing rights - currency with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) - remained unchanged during the week.

China's reserves have ballooned as the central bank buys up dollars generated from its huge trade and influx of foreign investment.

While China's economy has slowed due to a plunge in trade and a slump in the domestic real estate industry, recent data show the drop eased in March.

Beijing has taken steps to hold down the price of exports by cutting taxes on exporters and stopping the rise of China's tightly controlled currency, the yuan, against the U.S. dollar. Economists say both steps could strain relations with trading partners if China is seen to be competing unfairly.

AP stated that Chinese exports fell 17 percent in March from a year earlier, the fifth straight monthly decline but less severe than February's 25.7 plunge, the sharpest in a decade, the customs agency reported Friday. It said trade "showed clear signs of improvement."

Imports fell by 25.7 percent, widening the Chinese trade surplus to $18.6 billion from February's $4.8 billion gap.

Back home, the total stock of money - cash currency and deposits - in the system rose Rs 1,01,8906 crore, or 2.2%, during the fortnight ended March 27 to touch Rs 47,57,905 crore. While currency with the public dipped Rs 3,939 crore, demand and term deposits rose Rs 48,584 core and Rs 58,985 crore, respectively. - From Economic Times

Now search is just a call. Google has set path for a new era in the speech analytics with 'voice search', which it recently introduced in Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. One just needs to speak a single word into the phone, such as 'whether' or 'hotel' and one can get the top results.

Currently, the automated system offers results in English, but the operator-driven system offers results in only Hindi and Telegu.
